In this episode the host Nkolay Kolev talks to Stiliyan Yotov – professor in history of philosophy at Sofia University, author of a large number of texts in philosophy and contemporary cultural debates, who has translated many books of the tradition of German critical theory, including a couple of collections by Walter Benjamin.
The title of the episode, „Surrealism“, follows a recent publication of ours, i.e. the booklet Surrealism and Critical Theory, consisting in two texts by Benjamin, one text by Adorno, and an erudite post-face by Stiliyan Yotov himself.
This talk discusses the coming anniversary of the surrealist manifestos, as well as the waves of “forgetting and returning” of this “-ism” into the European culture with a special accent on the Bulgarian aesthetic history.
